Patriots’ Day Full HD Images ~ As we all know, Patriot Day was originally celebrated on April 19, the actual anniversary of the battles of Lexington and Concord. Patriots’ Day was first proclaimed in Massachusetts in 1894 by Gov. Frederic T. Greenhalge replacing Fast Day as a public holiday.
The Boston Marathon is run on Patriots’ Day every year, so sometimes the holiday is referred to as Marathon Monday of Boston. This Year, People will celebrate Marathon Monday 2017 on April 18th|19th.

Holiday observed: Monday.
Retail stores: Open.
Liquor stores: Open.
Convenience stores: Open.
Taverns, bars: Open.
Stock market: Open.
Municipal, state offices: Closed.
Mail: Post offices open.
MBTA: Subways, buses, commuter rail, Hingham and Charlestown commuter boats, and The Ride all on weekday schedule. Some bus routes rerouted certain times due to the Marathon and other Patriots Day events. Copley Station closed all day. For more information, call 617-222-3200.

Trash/recycling collection: No delay this week in trash or recycling pickup in Back Bay, Beacon Hill, Charlestown, Chinatown, Fenway, Leather District, Mission Hill, North End, Roxbury, South Boston, and the South End. One-day delay in Allston/Brighton, Bay Village, Dorchester, East Boston, Jamaica Plain, Mattapan, Roslindale, West Roxbury, and Hyde Park. (source)
